How Long to Stay in Korea for Each Procedure
The single most common planning mistake is booking a return flight before knowing when the stitches come out. Here is the realistic minimum stay by procedure.
Most aesthetic procedures have one non-negotiable milestone that has to happen at the clinic: stitch removal, splint removal, or a drain check. Book your return flight around that date, not around your vacation days. The ranges below are minimums that assume no complications.
Same day, no restriction
There is no surgical procedure in this guide with a same-day flight window. The shortest is submental liposuction, and even that wants four to five days. Treat any clinic willing to operate the day before your flight home as a warning sign rather than a convenience.
3 to 5 days
Submental and arm liposuction sit at the short end. Both are performed under local anesthesia in about an hour, and most surgeons clear a flight at four to five days once the dressing check is done.
7 to 10 days
Double eyelid surgery with an incisional method needs stitch removal at day five to seven. Single-area liposuction typically clears for flying at day seven, with compression continuing after you get home. Upper blepharoplasty sits here too, with stitches out at day five to seven.
10 to 14 days
Rhinoplasty requires splint removal between day five and seven plus a follow-up check, and surgeons rarely clear patients to fly before day ten. Facial contouring surgery involving bone work needs at least two weeks, often longer. Multi-area or 360 liposuction sits here as well, since swelling and clot risk both argue against an early long-haul flight.
Two trips, not one
Some treatments genuinely work better across two visits. Revision cases sometimes need staged surgery months apart, and stem cell protocols are occasionally structured across two sessions. For these, the sensible pattern is to plan around a second trip rather than compressing the schedule.
Build in slack
Whatever the range, add two days. Swelling that resolves on schedule for most patients does not resolve on schedule for all of them, and the cost of changing a flight is trivial next to the cost of flying before your surgeon has cleared you. Ask the clinic to state the earliest safe flight date in writing at the pre-operative appointment.
